Recently I was discussing two books with my Mom that she had read. Both are set in about the same time period, one an autobiography and the other fiction written by someone who had grown up during the same period of time. There are similarities between the two, but there is one main difference that sets them apart, the fact that one author acknowledges and sees the work of God, while the other rejects God and wants nothing to do with Him.
This made me think about how powerful our words are! Many people have written fiction and nonfiction and have greatly influenced the world and the way people live, thus leading them away from, or closer to, God and His Word of Truth, the Bible.
Jesus reminds us of the importance of our words in Matthew 12:35-37, when He says, "The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." (ESV)
How will our words testify about us? Will they justify us or condemn us before our Lord Jesus Christ? I pray that as you write this week that you will create stories and write words that will bring pleasure to God and will honor Him above all else, so that you have no need for shame or condemnation!
